Rainbow and Lightning

 Sunset Display

Eastward moving thunderstorms passed by on August 10th. The next picture was taken from my back yard at 7:55pm EDT, just 10 minutes before sunset. Quite a nice rainbow! 

Although rain had ended, lightning and thunder continued. I managed to capture three lightning bolts located within the rainbow arc. The first strike was a single bolt at 7:56EDT. (The next three short video clips were edited out of minute-long videos. They are best viewed in full screen mode.)

  The next video was captured a minute later at 7:57pm EDT.
The final video was taken at 7:58pm EDT.

Nighttime astronomical observing has been impossible for the past three months. Every single night has been cloudy. It's nice to see a rainbow once in a while!
